This is what I hope to highlight when The Review newspaper, in association with The Benoni Ladies’ Forum and the Community of Emandleni, hold ‘Woman to Woman’ – a fun day for both women and children in the Emandleni informal settlement. A day of Jumping Castles, balloons, facials (hopefully), healthcare and loads of conversation is planned.
The hope is to draw in several other community organisations and together forge a memory that will bring warmth to the heart each time it is recalled.
Lend a hand, please? Be part of the smile, laughter, joy and happiness trade.
When : 18 August 2013 (yes, it’s a Sunday)
Where: Emandleni Informal Settlement (that’s the settlement just off the road when you’re heading towards Carnival Mall from Benoni Town)
What is needed is monetary contributions towards food on the day as well as volunteers to be a part of either entertainment or facilitation. Do what you can. What will work for you.
- · jumping castles
- · Helium balloons
- · Face painters/paint
- · Craft/art activities for kids (and ladies)
- · Entertainment (spoken word poetry/song /plays– suggestions welcome)
- · Food (I’ll be liaising with a leader in the community to finalise numbers)
The idea is for there to be a vibrant exchange of dialogue, of ideas, of narratives. For all to be warmed by the flame of shared humanity regardless of circumstance.
